Cathedral Kids

“I am somebody! I am loved, chosen, and important! God made me on purpose because he has good plans for me! I was somebody when I came into this world and I’ll be a better somebody when I leave, because of Jesus Christ!”
— Cathedral Kid Motto based on Psalm 139

Although we are not gathering because of Covid 19, we look forward to meet your children and provide the quality programming that we have been known for, for the past 3+ decades. The following comments will be true again, once the church is able to meet in person:

No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome here! This is a safe and positive place for all kids. This is a place for families to gather and connect. This is a place of kindness and friendship. This is a church. We love Jesus and we can't wait to meet you!

Child Safety Standards

At Washington Cathedral, the safety of kids is of utmost importance to us. Thank you for supporting our standards of excellence!

Bathroom/Diaper Procedures:

·        Parents will be texted if a baby/toddler needs a diaper change and the parent is on campus.

·        If a parent is not on campus a volunteer may change the diaper with the door open, wearing gloves, washing hands and sanitizing the space after.

·        If a child uses the restroom the volunteer will escort them and remind them to wash hands after. As part of our open door policy, the volunteer will encourage the child to close their stall door, but leave the door to the bathroom facility open.

·        Please sanitize diaper changing and nursing areas after use

Other Safety Standards:

·        Volunteer pastor team captains are CPR/first aid certified

·        All volunteers age 18 and older are background checked

·        2 or more volunteer pastors will be in a classroom to ensure one adult is not left alone with one child. If only one adult is available for a time, the door will be left open.

·        Incident reports are filled out if a child is injured

·        Please notify us if your child has allergies as our classrooms may contain allergens

·        Toys are routinely sanitized

·        Please do not send your child into the classroom if they are contagious, have had a fever over 100 in the last 24 hours or have thrown up. There are kid friendly places in the services for sick kids.
